Call for Nominations and Letters of Interest:
Interim Chancellor Hexter is seeking nominations and applications for an experienced academic leader from within UC Davis to serve as Interim Vice Chancellor - Research. Interim Chancellor Hexter has decided to pause the national recruitment for this position and appoint an interim vice chancellor from the UC Davis community for a period not to exceed one year. Harris Lewin is stepping down as Vice Chancellor – Research effective September 30, 2016. We must appoint an interim vice chancellor as soon as possible in order to ensure continuity of leadership.
This position reports directly to the Chancellor and will serve as a member of the Council of Deans and Vice Chancellors as well as the Council of Vice Chancellors during the interim appointment. Interim Chancellor Hexter is seeking an individual with demonstrated accomplishment in academic leadership and management with an understanding of issues related to key research initiatives, corporate research relations, interdisciplinary research and strategic initiatives, and technology management. The individual must possess excellent management, organizational, planning, supervisory and problem-solving skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; the ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of campus constituency groups; demonstrated ability to achieve goals through promoting collaboration and teambuilding and working cooperatively with peers, employees, faculty, and with a diverse group of campus constituencies; and an understanding and respect for cultural, ethnic, and individual differences. A minimum of five years of academic administrative experience is required.
